Q — What is MUN?
A — MUN (Model UN; Model United Nations) is an international organization of high school and college students that meet at conferences simulating the United Nations to discuss and find solutions to global issues while representing countries as delegates.
Q — Why should I join?
A — You develop necessary soft skills, learn about the world, meet many people of similar interests, add a prestigious extracurricular onto your college application, and overall immerse yourself into an experience of a lifetime.
Q — Do colleges like MUN?
A — Absolutely. From Nova Southeastern University to Harvard University, most colleges have MUN. Colleges see MUN as a necessary experience that translate well into college academic life. There are even scholarships available for being apart of MUN.
Q — Is MUN a big time commitment?
A — Not as much as it may seem. We hold general meetings every other Monday and there are only a few conferences each year. We help you prepare for conferences in the meetings we hold and optional outside-of-school meetings.
Q — Are conferences free?
A — Most are not. The club will always assist in paying some of the fees. Sometimes transport will be provided. Most conferences are very inexpensive as they are local.
